A fresh beginning.

Spring at Hedsor

March, April, May

March

A new season, a new chapter.

With spring officially beginning on the 20th, the first signs of new life appear around the estate – daffodils carpet the grounds, trees start to blossom, and daylight extends into the early evening. Expect cool, fresh mornings with the chance of bright, blue-sky days.

The Easter bank holiday (if it falls in March) offers a long weekend option for guests. For our Persian couples, marrying around the time of Nowruz (new year) takes advantage of the symbolism of the new beginnings. Being off peak means there is typically more availability and better prices from both Hedsor and suppliers.

Where fresh beginnings bloom.

April

The gardens awaken.

With longer days and milder temperatures, April brings the first real signs of spring. A sea of bluebells blooms across the estate, and golden-hour sunsets offer breathtaking photography opportunities.

The first outdoor ceremonies of the year take place, and the Easter holidays make it a great choice for guests with children. Showers are possible, but the promise of new beginnings makes it a wonderful month to wed. Hindu and Buddhist month of Vaisakha often considers April favourable for weddings.

A month of light and colour.

May

A summer wedding without the summer price tag.

Two bank holidays (early and late May) make May an ideal month for a long weekend celebration, and to enjoy late spring warmth without the peak summer prices. Wisteria drapes across the venue, and rhododendrons burst into colour, making the gardens and the impressive driveway a photographer’s dream.

The weather is warming up, often with sunny days and fresh evenings, making it one of the most underrated yet beautiful months to marry in the UK. East Asian cultures in China and Japan often consider May an auspicious month for weddings.

Spring’s grand finale.

Those summer nights.

Summer at Hedsor

June, July, August

June

The height of romance.

The longest days of the year mean more time for outdoor celebrations, with warm evenings and a golden-hour glow stretching past 9 pm. Expect mild to warm temperatures without the intense heat of later summer, with the opportunity for stunning outdoor ceremonies and receptions.

The gardens are in full bloom, and British summertime is in its early, most elegant phase. Historically, June is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of marriage, making it a classically favoured month to wed in Western cultures.

A garden wedding dream come true.

July

Endless summer elegance.

As one of the UK’s sunniest months, July is perfect for an alfresco celebration, with warm temperatures and minimal rain (fingers crossed!). Late sunsets allow for extended drinks receptions and beautiful twilight photography.

With Wimbledon in full swing, it’s also a great time to embrace classic British summer traditions – think Pimm’s on the lawn, strawberries and cream, and long, balmy evenings. The summer holidays begin in late July, making the month perfect for weddings with children or for teachers.

Al fresco elegance at its finest.

August

A family celebration.

With school holidays in full swing, August is perfect for guests attending with little ones. It’s also one of the warmest months of the year, with long, sunny days and mild evenings, making it ideal for outdoor ceremonies, Champagne receptions, and lawn games. The gardens are in full bloom, with hydrangeas making a starring appearance, and the long grass on the South Lawn is beautiful and natural.

The UK’s August Bank Holiday at the end of the month provides an ideal opportunity for a relaxed, long weekend wedding. August is a great month for festival-style weddings making the most of the outdoor space, or marquee/stretch tent receptions. In Chinese culture, the association of August and the number eight makes this month prosperous and auspicious.

Autumn at Hedsor

September, October, November

September

The best of both worlds.

A beautiful transition month, September starts with warm late-summer days and ends with the first hints of autumn’s golden hues. Couples can expect pleasant temperatures, lower chances of rain than in August, and the stunning natural shift from summer greenery to rich autumnal tones. The harsher light of peak summer softens into a romantic and peaceful glow, perfect for photography.

With children back at school, it’s also a quieter month for travel. In Western culture, September has historically been associated with abundance and a successful harvest, making it a prosperous month to marry.

Late summer warmth, early autumn charm.

October

Autumnal magic.

Rich, golden leaves across the estate create a breathtaking setting for wedding photography, while the cooler evenings make candlelit receptions feel especially cosy. The UK weather is variable – some years bring warm, sunny days, while others see the first true signs of autumn chill.

A mid-month wedding captures the best of both seasons. Halloween at the end of the month also adds a touch of playful charm for those wanting to embrace autumnal themes, and October has a more relaxed feel compared to peak summer weddings.

Rich colours and candlelit magic.

November

A month of enchantment.

The days are shorter, making warm, intimate indoor weddings feel all the more magical. Expect crisp, cool air, the possibility of the first frosts, and the romance of candlelight dining. A November wedding is perfect for couples who love the cosiness of winter without the busyness of December, and our Christmas decorations will be up for the last week of the month (saving you budget on floral decor!).

The options for rich seasonal tones with decor and florals make November a uniquely beautiful time of year to marry. With Bonfire Night on the 5th and Diwali in early November, fireworks become a stunning option for an evening celebration. After Diwali, many dates are astrologically lucky for Hindu couples.

Winter at Hedsor

December, January, February

December

A fairytale Christmas.

Hedsor House transforms with magical Christmas decorations, evergreen garland and twinkling lights, meaning lots of the decor is already done for you. The magic of the holiday season adds an extra layer of warmth and joy, making it one of the most atmospheric months to marry. Playing into the season by opting for a mulled wine signature drink and candlelit seasonal feast to create an unforgettable winter wedding.

The Christmas holidays provide a wonderful opportunity for guests to travel, while New Year’s Eve weddings bring an extra dose of celebration. This is naturally joyful, celebratory time of year, made all the more magical with the possibility of a dusting of snow.

A season of inimate gatherings and heartfelt joy.

January

A peaceful Winter wedding.

The perfect way to shake off the post-Christmas blues with a celebration filled with candlelight, intimate vibes, and the magic of a fresh new year. Expect crisp winter days, possibly with a dusting of frost, and cosy indoor receptions.

Hedsor is typically closed for maintenance during the month of January, but we may be able to host events in the first or last week of the month. The post-festive period means more availability for suppliers, and an intimate wedding in January can feel truly special.

Start the year with love.

February

The ultimate month of romance.

Valentine’s Day makes February a naturally love-filled month, and the soft winter skies provide the perfect backdrop for a dreamy wedding. Shorter days lend themselves beautifully to candlelit ceremonies and twinkling fairy lights.

Weather-wise, it’s still wintery, with crisp air and a chance of frost, but an indoor setting can make it feel warm and intimate. Marrying in February means a great excuse for a romantic honeymoon escape to somewhere warm. With excellent pricing and typically great availability (even for short-lead weddings), February is an obvious choice among off-peak months.
