Named the Lavinia Suite, after the glamorous Sri Lankan hotel where Florence and Philip Shephard honeymooned in 1934, it is quite simply one of the most beautiful places in which to start your married lives together.
From the stunning honeyed onyx bathroom with a gorgeous clawfoot bath and rain shower to the romantic bedroom itself, the experience is nothing short of sheer indulgence.
Add to this, the gorgeous Dressing Room, suffused with natural light, which is yours to enjoy with your bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding, and you have the most picture-perfect setting for all your preparations.
The Alexander Suite and The Florence Suite are the perfect bedrooms for your extra-special guests. Spacious and relaxing, these gorgeous bedrooms make any guest feel like royalty.
Each with its own story, The Alexander Suite is honours one of Hedsor’s former owners, Alexander Shephard. The Florence Suite references Hedsor’s former owner and Alexander’s mother, Florence Shephard, who was gifted the house as a wedding present when she married Philip in 1934.

Each bedroom is a canvas for a special story intimately connected to the rich history of Hedsor House and its family. From glamorous honeymoon destinations of the owners to colourful characters at the heart of Hedsor, these narratives come to life through exquisite wallpapers and carefully curated furniture pieces.
Our cosy Skye Suite is inspired by the rustic Scottish isle where Mark and Renata Shephard honeymooned. Mark furthers Hedsor’s legacy as our Managing Director.
Alexander Shephard was born at Hedsor in 1938, the only son of Florence and Philip Shephard. He always spoke fondly of early childhood exploring the house, of his Hornby model railway in his childhood bedroom, and learning to swim in the original bathtub of the Lavinia Suite!
Philip and Florence, owned a yacht called The Northwind. Built in 1930, it sailed the English Channel, Mediterranean and Scandinavia. One very special VIP guest was Princess Elizabeth II who they entertained when the yacht docked in Malta! She spent much time here during the beginning of her relationship with Prince Philip when he was in the Navy.
The vibrant Mediterranean setting of Capri where Nick and Allegra Shephard honeymooned, is the inspiration for this Suite. The eldest of the Shephard brothers, Nick positioned Hedsor as a filming location back in the late 2000s. Since this time, Hedsor continues to be in demand as a favoured choice for leading location scouts.
The Lilliput Suite is inspired by a mythical childhood story told by Granny Florence. When the Shephard boys were young, she created a hideaway miniature house on the estate, which she called Lilliput. From here she would weave magical stories and invent charming characters such as Mrs Gnome, who would leave presents hidden for the boys.
Aunt Lily used to live at Hedsor in the 1950s. A fearless and flamboyant character, she went on to be commended for her noble work helping the wounded in WWI. Her certificate of recognition hangs in the room today.
Hedsor House was owned by six generations of the Boston family, who are responsible for three versions of the house, building the current Hedsor in 1868. All generations of the Boston family entertained royalty at Hedsor, from George III to Queen Victoria. The royal portraits of George III and Queen Charlotte that hang in our Royal Staircase Hall were a gift from Lord Boston VII to his godson, Alexander Shephard.
In 1925, the house passed from the 6th generation of the Boston family to D’Arcy Baker, a famous racing driver and Managing Director of Fiat Motors. He spent one hundred and fifty thousand pounds on the house, lavishly remodelling it back to a traditional Georgian style. No expense was spared in this lavish refurbishment and we owe it to him for creating the house’s beautiful interior and exterior.
The Mont Rochelle Suite is inspired by Hamish and Rosie Shephard’s honeymoon to South Africa. Light and spacious, and with the golden hues of the sunsets they loved whilst on safari, this room evokes peace and calm. Hamish is the youngest of the Shephard brothers and his creative and entrepreneurial spirit has had a big influence on Hedsor becoming one of the leading wedding venues in the country.
Named after the Belle Epoque Cap d’Antibes hotel in the South of France, Belles Rives tells the love story of Alexander and Janey Shephard. Many of their happiest moments were spent here in this magical place in France.
