Our Story

Hedsor House is one of the country’s most desirable country house wedding venues. Breathtakingly beautiful, and set within 100 acres of historic Grade II listed parkland, it has an incredible reputation for hosting some of the most memorable weddings, events and as a location for iconic filmmaking.

Given as a wedding present to Florence and Philip Shephard in 1934, Hedsor House has remained in the Shephard Family for four generations. And that is key to its essence; every client, guest and visitor is treated as a much-loved member of the family.

Today, the house is run under the leadership of Mark Shephard as Managing Director, with parents Alexander and Janey, and brothers Nick and Hamish, still very involved.

The team is passionate about helping create some of the most magical and unforgettable experiences. Reviews and awards are testaments to the bespoke level of care that is given to each and every event.

Charitable Giving

Alexander Shephard has been a trustee of Heart of Bucks and his wife, Janey Shephard still sits on the fundraising committee for the Penn branch of the NSPCC.

In recent years, we have been delighted to offer the house and grounds for many varied charitable events, including a clay-pigeon shooting event with Wings for Life, Spinal Cord Injury research foundation, raising a total of £171,000. We have also donated £13,000 to NHS Charities Together supporting a campaign to help NHS staff caring for COVID-19 patients.

We offer continued support to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as part of our Canine Concierge service, allowing your four-legged friend to attend your Hedsor wedding. Our donations from this service contribute to the training of hearing dog Sandie, a gorgeous caramel spaniel with a heart of gold.

We are open to submissions for hosting a charity event at Hedsor House.

Sustainability at Hedsor House

Our sustainability journey started many years ago as the conservation of Hedsor House’s Grade II listed grounds has been at the forefront of the Shephard family’s work.

Over the last 30 years, 2,500 trees have been planted across the estate. These include important specimen Oaks, Wellingtonias, Beeches and Cedars of Lebanon. Many areas of the estate are left for rewilding, providing a rich habitat for wildlife and flora and fauna.

We have our wonderful Highland cattle onsite (nature’s lawnmowers!), plus honey bees who can work to pollinate and promote a biodiverse ecosystem on our estate.

Like many others we have made significant changes in the house and our office to ensure we are reducing our waste and working as sustainably as possible. And we have recently invested in solar panels and electric car charging points.

We are particularly proud of developing The Alexander wedding package, the UK’s first plant postive, carbon-neutral wedding. Launched in 2022, it aims to help couples who want a sustainable wedding that doesn’t compromise on luxury.
