MEET the HEDSOR HIGHLANDS…

A herd of Hedsor highland cattle has been in residence on the estate since 2008 with “Little Al” being the star of the show for many years.

Little Al was named as so due to being born on Alexander Shephard’s Birthday….

On Saturday 3rd November 2018 we welcomed a new herd of cattle to the estate and are delighted to introduce them individually to you…

Lillie - The matriarch and white in colour. Lillie can generally be found hanging out near the food…

Elsie - Our black highland. Also answers to ‘Spooky’ as she was born on Halloween. Elsie loves to give visitors kisses through the fence…

Heather - Our beautiful red highland who is always ready for her close up….the poser of the herd!

And……

Poppy - Our beautiful highland baby. Never far away from Mum Lillie’s side.

Poppy’s name was chosen because the highlands arrived in November 2018, close to Remembrance Day, and in the year that The British Legion is marking the centenary of the First World War (2014 to 2018) with commemorations in the UK and Republic of Ireland with a focus on Remembrance, education and legacy. A donation to The British Legion was made in honour of the naming. Many thanks to all of Hedsor’s supporters for the name ideas and a huge congratulations to Stephanie & Sam who made the suggestion of Poppy which was then shortlisted and chosen by the Shephard family.
