Stuart & Simon: Love at Last

Stuart and Simon met on and said ‘I do’ at Hedsor in November 2018. Their day was a reflection of their pure love surrounded by nearest and dearest from every walk of their lives.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house…

Why Hedsor?

On that glorious October day when we first drove through the gates of Hedsor and along the beautiful driveway until the magnificent house appeared in the distance, I could see us getting married here. Even though I had told Simon to stay cool and act nonchalant, within minutes of walking round the house and meeting all the fabulous staff, we knew it was the one and were booking our date!

What is the one thing you each remember most?

Stuart: How amazing the venue appeared inside and out and similarly how gorgeous and happy our family and guests looked.

Simon: Stuart’s massive wedding bouquet appearing around the staircase as he walked down the aisle!

I felt so emotional that we had eventually got to this point and the man of my dreams was about to say “I Do”. So proud of my family for being so supportive and how beautiful my daughter looked.

The Suits: Simon had a bespoke Gucci three-piece dinner suit in black silk brocade with a custom made evening shirt by Ede & Ravenscroft and patent shoes from Feragamo.

Stuart had a Dolce and Gabbana full black brocade three-piece dinner suit with D&G evening shirt and black sequinned shoes by Jimmy Choo.

The Bridesmaids Dresses: Heavily jewelled dresses by Needle & Thread at Liberty of London with hand made jewellery and hair pieces by Gillian Million of London.

The Band and Flowers: We had an ABBA tribute band called Planet ABBA. The tables had candelabras dressed with flowers by Ruby & Grace and black & white photos of female icons set within silver frames. The tables were named after each. Marilyn, Liza, Audrey etc.

Did you face any challenges during planning?

Hedsor took away most of the stress, as did their preferred suppliers. Of particular help were Eugenie at Papeterie Eugenie, who created our stunning stationery and Melissa Woodland who created a masterpiece in icing! The Bridebook app was also really helpful.

I would say Andrew one of our groomsmen saved the day by finding Imogen‘s lost reading and getting people where they needed to be. Katie Wardle of Hedsor was an absolute godsend making sure we were in the right place at the right time for the whole day. She kept her cool which helped us stay cool calm and collected at the same time.

Were there any surprises?

Yes! To our great delight the new highland cattle had arrived, which made the day even more special, but the biggest surprise for me was the fact that Simon had decided to take my name as well!

As it was the 3rd November we knew there was a chance we may see some fireworks in the sky. Almost like clockwork, as we were finishing the main course of the wedding breakfast, someone nearby had an amazing fireworks display that all the guests were able to see from their tables and assumed we had planned the whole thing. Of course we didn’t deny a thing!!!!

We were blown away by our cake. Quite spectacular.
