Olivia and Martin were friends for seven years before falling in love. After they began dating, they questioned how soulmates could be have been around each other for so long without noticing.
Months later, they fell in love with Hedsor House and had six months to plan the day of their dreams. Their classically glamorous day was everything they dreamed of and more...
Olivia: Hedsor House was only the second venue we viewed. From the moment we turned off the road and took the long drive up to the house I knew that we were going to like it.
As soon as we were inside I was instantly in love. We moved from one beautiful room to another exploring and I remember getting teary eyed and saying to Martin ‘this is where I want to get married.'
We did visit a few other venues however, nowhere held the magic for me that Hedsor did. Nowhere else gave me goosebumps and nothing else could compare. Luckily Martin agreed, for us there was no other option, our wedding had to be at Hedsor House.
Olivia: Our ceremony was beautiful and the fact we’d written our own vows really made it even more personal. Our registrar was excellent and made me as comfortable as possible during one of the most intense moments of my life.
Martin: The feeling of happiness and relief once the ceremony was over was indescribable. I can genuinely say I was the happiest and proudest groom in the world and even gave the congregation a fist pump before kissing my beautiful bride.
Details of the Day
The Dress: I got my dress from Ellie Sanderson in Beaconsfield, it was by a designer called Jesus Peiro. Ellie Sanderson was the first boutique I visited and my dress was the fourth I tried on. I was convinced I was going to wear a fitted, strapless, mermaid style dress. One of the wonderful ladies who worked there picked my dress for me to try on, I picked three I liked (two mermaids and a big ball gown just for fun)! She then picked two for me, one of which turned out to be my dress: a tight halter neck top with a plunging v neck, protruding collar and bigger skirt with box pleats and pockets!
The dress featured a heavy duchess satin and as soon as I put it on, I loved it and realised that I didn’t actually want the tight fitting style. I wanted to feel like I was wearing a wedding dress and absolutely loved the style of the Jesus Peiro. The dress was simple and classic but with a bit of a modern twist and I’d never seen a dress like it before.
The Suit: I wore a bespoke midnight blue tuxedo with a shawl collar inspired by the James Bond Skyfall tuxedo (I’m a huge Bond fan) created by Clements and Church Beaconsfield. After meeting Clements and Church at the Hedsor Wedding Showcase, I made an appointment to visit the store where I described my ideal look for my wedding day and was measured up for my tux. I was blown away when I later spoke to the guys and not only had they re-created the tux of my dreams to fit me perfectly, they’d also gone to the effort of procuring the exact fabric used by Tom Ford to make the Skyfall tuxedo for Daniel Craig.
Martin: On the big day, I was worried about a lot of things, but the moment I put on my tux I felt confident and ready for anything. It also put a huge smile on my face when I opened the jacket and saw not only my initials, but my soon to be wife's new initials and the date of our wedding... it was perfect.
The bridesmaids wore black, floor length dresses. The girls shopped around and picked their own dresses which worked really well in the end.
The groomsmen were all in tuxedos which looked lovely and really complimented the rest of the wedding party.
Describe more of the day: As our wedding was in early February we knew it would be cold! We wanted the colours to be warm and luxurious so we picked muted pinks, golds and cream.
Class Act provided lovely golden and amber uplighting for the ceremony which really added extra warmth to the room. One of my favourite things was our table settings, we had warm beige table cloths, gold rimmed charger plates, gold cutlery and gold rimmed glass wear with blush pink napkins.
Everyone had a gold laser cut name placed over their napkin, it all went beautifully together and looked fabulous in Hedsor's Ballroom!
Were there any surprises on your big day?
The weather was a bit of a surprise! We got married on 2nd of February and it had rained every day in the week leading up to the wedding. When I woke up on the morning, the sun was shining and it was a bright sunny day! It was still a bit cold but it stayed dry all day and we were able to get some great photos in the grounds!
What do you remember most about your day?
Olivia: My overwhelming feeling of happiness. I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to be marrying the man of my dreams in the place of my dreams and that everything just seemed perfect! Martin looked better than James Bond is his tuxedo, I don’t think I stopped smiling for the entire day (apart from a few tears at the speeches)! It was the perfect start to our married life together and every time I think about it I get that same feeling of happiness and can’t help but smile.
